코끼리가 공작새처럼 아름답고 화려한 형형색색의 문양을 갖게 된다면 어떤 모습일까? 이런 상상에서 작업이 시작되었다. 자연의 문양을 담은 코끼리의 모습에서 Decoration 과 Elephant 단어를 합성하여 'DECOPHANT' 데코펀트라는 제목을 붙이고 작업을 이어나갔다. '상아없는 데코펀트' 실크스크린 모노타입 시리즈 작품들은 밀렵꾼들의 상아 적출로 인해 희생을 당하는 안타까운 코끼리의 상황을 모티브로 작업했다. 데코펀트 판화작품은 2020년을 시작으로 2년 마다 제작하고 있다.
What would it look like if an elephant had the beautiful and vibrant patterns of a peacock? This thought sparked the beginning of the work. Inspired by the patterns of nature, the elephant's form was combined with the words "Decoration" and "Elephant," giving birth to the title "DECOPHANT." The "Ivoryless Decophant" series, created using silkscreen monotype techniques, was inspired by the tragic situation of elephants being sacrificed due to ivory poaching. The Decophant print works have been created every two years, starting in 2020.
